Julie Pierce Casey
California
Julie is the oldest of 9 siblings and has fond memories of childhood. Young adulthood was tumultuous - her parents separated when she was 18, she got married at 19 and was pregnant at 20 years old. When she was 24 years old with 2 kids and her marriage was falling apart, she was invited to study the Bible. Her baptism not only washed away her sins but also brought freedom from the daily emotional pain that had enslaved her. The following year, the same month that she received the notification that her divorce was finalized, her 2 year old son was diagnosed with autism.
Navigating the challenges of being a young single mom of two children, one with special needs, was not easy but always interesting. Her story is one of perseverance, failure, hope, restoration, and above all a strong faith that God has a plan for her family and that he is working all things according to his good purpose.
Watch out You Slicky Thief!
This is the experience of how a single mom of three living in the inner city learned how to raise her special gift from God. This story expands over the decades. It’s a real story of pain, suffering, fear and faith! My daughter created her own language. This is the journey into the valley and mountaintop moments of our mother-daughter relationship over the last twenty-six years.
