Eugenia Ortega

Eugenia Ortega was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico, with 3 siblings. Her oldest sibling was diagnosed with severe mental retardation (now called severe intellectual disability) when he was born. Her parents took this very hard. This impacted Eugenia's childhood in a great way. Then, her mother took her life when she was 15 years old. Life became more challenging as she went through her teen years and early twenties.

On January 24, 1991, Arturo and Eugenia got married. They became disciples of Jesus on April 4, 1993. They now have 4 young adult children. Dante is the youngest one, he is 22 years old and has severe Autism. He was born in Fairfax, VA. Raising him along with his 3 other siblings became one of the hardest challenges Eugenia & Arturo had ever faced. Eugenia wrote a book which has been published twice. The book is "A Look Into Our Window". Here Eugenia pours out her heart, sharing a collection of raw and heartfelt stories of raising Dante. It transports you to that place and time, it is as if you are

looking through their window during these times and episodes.

Eugenia is convinced that God has given her these experiences and many others, with the purpose of sharing with people that may be going through similar or other difficult times. And also to share with everyone, so you can see first hand what families with severe special needs and other challenges go through. Mostly, her lesson is about hope. There is always hope. Hope is what has gotten her and her family this far and hope is what she will be sharing. Hope in our dear and loving God.

Eugenia Ortega nació y creció en Tijuana, Baja California, México, con 3 hermanos. 

Su hermano mayor fue diagnosticado con retraso mental severo (ahora llamado discapacidad intelectual severa) cuando nació. Sus padres tomaron esto con mucha dificultad y angustia. Esto afectó mucho la infancia de Eugenia. Luego, su madre se quitó la vida cuando Eugenia tenía 15 años. La vida se volvió más desafiante a medida que pasaba por su adolescencia y principios de su juventud. 

El 24 de enero de 1991, Arturo y Eugenia se casaron. Se convirtieron en discípulos de Jesús el 4 de abril de 1993. Ahora tienen 4 hijos adultos jóvenes. Dante es el más joven, tiene 23 años y tiene autismo severo. Nació en Fairfax, VA. Criarlo junto con sus otros 3 hermanos se convirtió en uno de los desafíos más difíciles que Eugenia y Arturo habían enfrentado. 

Eugenia escribió un libro que se ha publicado dos veces. El libro es "Una mirada a nuestra ventana". Aquí Eugenia abre su corazón, compartiendo una colección de historias crudas y de corazón, sobre la crianza de Dante. Te transporta a ese lugar y tiempo, es como si estuvieras viendo a través de su ventana durante esos momentos y episodios. 

Eugenia está convencida de que Dios le ha dado estas experiencias y muchas otras, con el propósito de compartirlas con personas que puedan estar pasando por momentos similares u otros momentos difíciles. Y también para compartir con todos, para que puedas ver lo que pasan las familias con necesidades especiales severas y otros desafíos. 

Principalmente, su lección es sobre la esperanza. Siempre hay esperanza. La esperanza en Dios es lo que la ha llevado a ella y a su familia hasta aquí. Esperanza en nuestro querido y amoroso Dios. 

"...también nos gloriamos en los sufrimientos, porque sabemos que el sufrimiento produce perseverancia; la perseverancia, carácter; y el carácter, esperanza".
